Today, I spent my time at a physiotherapy clinic where I was given the opportunity to observe how physiotherapists and exercise physiologists worked with their patients and each other. It was a great experience that provided me with greater insight into my future.
At the end of the day, someone asked me what I thought was the main takeaway from today and I couldn’t help but say the way the team communicated with each other. The clinic was highly team-based; after one practitioner finished examining their patient they would refer them to the next practitioner but not before briefing them on how the patient was doing. Even their team meeting was focused heavily on communication, the leader encouraging others to speak out about their concerns and allow them opportunities to put in their input. There wasn’t a single person who didn’t contribute, after all, teamwork makes the dreamwork.
