Lately, I have realised how, for most of my day, I am staring at a screen, whether it be my phone or laptop. The first thing I do when I wake up look at my phone, then I watch Youtube while eating breakfast, then I stare at my laptop screen for hours on end working on different assignments. Even my breaks consist of watching my favourite show.
So little of my time is spent away from the screen, so much so that it has been affecting my eyesight and most probably my health in the future. I know I can’t remove myself from the screen completely, but I can choose to reduce my screen exposure, hence I have compiled a list of possible ways to spend my time away from my electronic devices. I want to start implementing these activities into my life slowly until they become my new normal.
- Invest in an alarm clock
- Go for a walk
- Meditate during break times
- Write a list of things you are grateful for on a piece of paper
- Cook new foods
