Not once did I ever see myself being able to complete a Rubik’s cube, I believed it was a task only a genius could accomplish. Thankfully, I realised this was an absurd assumption.
The three days leading up to Christmas, I immersed myself into learning the steps and quirks required to solve the Rubik’s cube thanks to the encouragement I got from a friend who had recently learned how to solve the cube himself.
Similarly to learning any new skill, it was frustrating at first. I felt like I was asking my friend the same questions over and over again, and the series of movements I needed to make kept escaping my brain. But like they say, practice makes perfect, and practice I did. The thought of proclaiming that I could solve a Rubik’s cube kept me motivated; hence my goal was to solve a Rubik’s cube by Christmas Day.
I twisted and turned the cube for hours on end, trying to ingrain the moves into my head, so much so that it became muscle memory at one point.
When I was young, whenever I got my hands on a Rubik’s cube I remember simply twisting the cube in different ways hoping I was doing it right. I was only relying on luck in the past so you can imagine how accomplished I felt on Christmas Day when I managed to solve the Rubik’s cube with no assistance at all. It wasn’t like I flew to space or anything, but it felt great to learn something new.
I can honestly say that learning to solve a Rubik’s cube is not hard at all, I can say that now because I can easily complete it now. Truthfully speaking though, it just takes a few hours if you are focused and motivated.
As I enter the new year, I plan on learning even more skills and start new hobbies. Finally, retiring from my position as a couch potato.

Cool!!
Yay! I’m so proud of your new accomplishments! 🙂
